About Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a part of the Balkan Peninsula in South Eastern Europe. The state of Bulgaria was first founded in 681 AD. It is a country of ancient culture, picturesque nature, authentic music, and folklore. The Bulgarian land is a place of rich cultural heritage – ancient ruins, medieval churches and monasteries, architecture of the Bulgarian national revival.
Here are some facts about Bulgaria:

  • The oldest crafted gold in the history of mankind;
  • Of the 300 cultural and natural sites in the UNESCO List of World Heritage, nine are in Bulgaria;
  • Bulgaria is the country of yoghourt – the food of the centenarians.
  • The world’s perfume and cosmetics industry could not do without the Bulgarian attar of roses – the Bulgarian oleaginous rose yields 80% of the world’s production.
  • Small Bulgaria is one of the world’s largest wine producers together with France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.

Bulgaria is a beautiful mountainous country, with tourism opportunities being one of its biggest assets. Bulgaria possesses beautiful landscapes and beaches. The Black Sea Coast on its East border is famous for its fine sanded beaches, and perfect temperatures of water and air.

Varna

This is Bulgaria’s third largest city, a large port, and an important cultural, trade and industrial centre. Founded in the 6th century BC, the city boasts many remains from Roman and Byzantine times. The oldest gold jewellery in the world (dating from the second half of 5000 BC) was found in the Necropolis of Varna. During the 20th century the town became a first rate sea resort. Nowadays Varna is the centre of the Black Sea region. All these factors contribute to the active town life not only in summer when the town turns into a centre of tourism and numerous cultural events but during the whole year. Well known as a resort for decades Varna offers excellent conditions for recreation, entertainment and sports.

Passports & Visas

Delegates from countries where visa is normally required for entry to Bulgaria are reminded that they will need to obtain one from the appropriate Bulgarian Embassy/Consul. Moderate climate: mild spring and autumn, hot summer, cold snowy winters. September, Varna region:
Normal max/high temperature °C ( °F) 24 (75).
Average temperature °C ( °F) 19 (65).
Min/low temperature °C ( °F) 14 (58).

Transportation

Organized transfers

Participants can order individual transfers from Varna airport (bus/railway station) to the hotel or v.v. to CIM Ltd. The price per person for one direction is 25 Euro, for both directions – 45 Euro. On arrival at Varna Airport, a member of the organizing team with a sign of conference name will welcome delegates. The organizing team will take care of all transfer arrangements from the airport (bus/railway station) to the hotel. On arrival and during the first day of the event, delegates will be asked to confirm their departure times. Transportation will be organized from the hotel to the airport (bus/railway station) for those delegates who have booked and paid the transfer individually.

Taxi service

ОК Trans Taxi is the authorized taxi operator at Varna airport. Taxi service is available around the clock and can be booked at their office inside the terminal. There are a number of taxi companies operating in the Varna region. Some of the more reputable ones are: Omega taxi, Lasia taxi, Triumf taxi. Taxi companies have official rates but drivers quote an inflated fare in advance (80–90 BGN / 40–45 Euro) – especially if you're travelling to the northern beach resorts.

Bus service

The Airport Bus station (Bus No.409) to Varna and nearby resorts is located just outside Airport Terminal 1. The bus ticket price varies between 1.00 BGN and 3.00 BGN depending on the distance to your destination. The price from the airport to Riviera Holiday Club is 3 BGN. The bus stops just in front of the main entrance of Riviera Holiday Club. From Varna City Centre to Riviera Holiday Club you should take bus No.9.

Money

The national currency is the Bulgarian Lev. Bank notes of the following denominations are in circulation: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 Levs: 1 Euro = 1.95583 BGN. There are numerous foreign exchange offices and ATMs around the city centre and in the Golden Sands Resort. You can find the closest one at the Tourist Office of Riviera Holiday Club.
